Karate competition data

Explore karate results, athlete histories and performance data.

Karate Intelligence brings tournament results into one place, so you can see how an athlete's competition history fits together and where every figure comes from.

For athletes, coaches, clubs and national teams. Access is currently arranged by the team, and administrators run the data.

Overview and insights in one place.

See it working

Four views from the application, built from the same components the signed-in pages use. The values on this page are invented to show how results are presented. They are not real athletes, tournaments or results.

Athlete history

Every record carries its source: an approved tournament document, or a federation ranking observation.

Match results, read with their limits

A win rate is shown with its denominator and a range, not as a score.

95% range: 45% to 94%. Matches without a recorded winner are left out, never counted as losses.

No stored meeting never means the two have not met: only approved tournament documents are counted.

What it covers today

These are the capabilities the application has now, described as they work.

Data and sources

Results are only useful if you can tell where they came from. This is how the data is gathered, checked and limited.

Where it comes from

The public WKF ranking pages, and tournament result documents in PDF form. Each record keeps its page or document, so it can be traced back.

Checked by people

A tournament document is read by software, then reviewed and corrected by a person before it counts. A correction after approval is a new revision, and the earlier version is kept.

Coverage has limits

Match-level results exist only for tournaments whose documents have been approved. Not every athlete or event is included, some documents carry no date, and the ranking data is as current as its last retrieval.

What it deliberately does not do

It does not rate or rank athletes with its own model, score a performance as good or bad, or predict results. The public sources contain no strength-of-opponent or field-level data, so any such claim would be invented. It describes what was recorded.

How tournament results are reviewed, and how to read the figures

Who it is for

Karate Intelligence is built for people who work with competition results. Today, administrators operate it: they collect, review and approve the data.

  • Athletes

See what has been recorded about a competition history, where each record came from and what is missing.

  • Coaches

Look at an athlete's results, kata choices and meetings with specific opponents, described with their sample sizes.

  • Clubs and national teams

Follow results across events and categories from one source-labelled record instead of scattered result sheets.

A dedicated view for athletes and coaches to sign in and see their own data is not available yet. What is described above is what administrators can use now.

Where to start

Karate Intelligence is not open for public sign-up. If you have an account, sign in to use it.
